Womens skirt is the lower part of a dress or a gown that covers the person from the waist downwards, and a separate outer garment serving in womens dresses with all its purpose. Its hemline can vary from micro to floor-length and in accordance to cultural conceptions of modesty and aesthetics as well as the wearer's personal taste—which can be influenced by many factors in fashion and social context. Trendy skirts are self-standing garments which can be worn with another garment like leggings, shorts, and swimsuits.
Many fashion designers, have shown their collection of dresses and skirts online and apparently present regularly on the runways. Dresses and skirts can be a draped garment made out of a single piece of fabric. Most skirts are fitted to the body at the waist or hips and fuller below with the fullness introduced in different styles of darts, gores, or pleats, and panels. Contemporary skirts are made of light to average weight of fabrics like denim, jersey, worsted, or poplin. Skirts made of thin or clingy fabrics are often worn with slips making the material of the skirt to drape better in modesty.
As skirts are back in a big bang this season. For spring summer 2018, it is less the ‘vavoom’ version that was designed to wiggle around and more about enwrapping woman’s shape. They are fitted though not skin-tight and they also come in materials associated reputation like knits and vinyls to avoid looking too office-like uniform, one can choose a shade in a bright color or choose a heavily embellished style—remember, more texture, feathers and sequins the better. If one truly wants to bring a pencil skirt forward, then scrap on towering heels and bid goodbyes to platform court shoes and trade for a strappy modest heel instead.
Go for the long-length one. We at OwnTheLooks suggests that the longer the length of a pencil skirt is, its draws a big attention on the catwalks—reaching just below the knee. Take a choice for a more sensual version of the midi-length skirt styles that have been prevalent over the months.
Opt to wear a skirt that is something sleek, minimalist yet modern cut. A navy skirt has all the class and signature appeal to the wearer. Flashes of contrasting blues in detailing especially around the pockets injects a contemporary vibe.
One daywear says everything in a skirt. Remember not to make a mistake as skirts can be worn during the day outside of the office. Take a mark that you can pair it with a cropped jumper and for an added relaxed appeal slip-on with a pair of black heeled ankle boots for a rocking feminine edge.
The leather skirt is one of those pieces that you should always be having in your wardrobe forever. Be like Angelina Jolie who prefers a more classic yet elegant look—having styled herself with a white silk shirt, and for a modern revamp, team up with a simple T-shirt or any plain womens top. Slip-on towering court shoes for strappy modest heels or a flat mule. Shop for something soft calf leather skirt which can mold your body while adding stretch and vents at the back to ensure definite comfort too.
Floral skirts, on the other hand, are one of the welcome onsets in Spring/Summer 2018 trend. Whether classic or modern juxtapose prints can be worn with jumper or T-shirt and then add socks with heels for a truly contemporary look.
Knitwear skirts exude youthfulness to the wearer by pairing it with a pair of classic Chuck Taylor shoes, yet pulled-together for a comfortable weekend ensemble.
Be inspired by Carine Roitfeld’s signature style of wearing a skirt as she prefers to be decorative in a version of jacquard and lace that is certainly perfect for an evening party while exuding ultra-glamourous look. Jacquard fabrics offer a sense of opulence that works well for evening dates. Clash it with textured accessories and a black shirt and mules.
A statement skirt is a great addition to any wardrobe. OwnTheLooks recommends to keep this style free and from looking too corporate. One may opt to wear the skirt either dressed up or down, however, we prefer for simplicity by wearing with a casual T-shirt and a pair of understated heels alternatively clashing to prints for a playful edge.
