Winter Dressing: How to Wear Dresses in Winter
Some of us are simply not pants-girls. We’re in love with the easiness and breeziness of dresses, plus there’s always one suitable for every occasion. However, what is one supposed to do whenever the weather gets colder and dresses simply don’t cut it?
Our shivering arms and bare knees would look inappropriate for cold temps. Don’t fret as our favorite influencers have found sneaky ways of incorporating dresses into their wardrobes. Yes, Christmas came early for us, ladies! Here are ways to rock dresses even during the winter season:
Maxi dresses with color-coordinated coats
Channel your inner fashionista with a look that is just as warm as it is stylish and boho-chic. Your favorite maxi dresses can be utilized even in the colder months by topping them with cropped peacoats or leather jackets.
A cropped peacoat is the better choice if you feel a leather jacket won’t suffice in keeping you warm. Try to not add a long or bulky jacket to keep your outfit from being unflattering to your figure. Wear with flats or sneakers.
Over long-sleeve turtlenecks
Turtlenecks are classic and chic on their own. Pairing them with shift dresses? Perfection for the cold weather. Pair with crisp, trendy accessories, your favorite booties, and you’re good to go!
With over-the-knee boots
Cold weather shoes let us use dresses even during winter. Make sure you pick the dress which hits just above your boot’s topmost portion. Top with a coat or jacket that is similar in length as your dress for that extra sleekness.
Under a sweater
You don’t need to pack up your favorite floaty maxis or slip dresses when summer ends; throw oversized sweaters on top and pair with boots. Now you have the best winter outfits for shopping and dinners!
With black tights
While this is an obvious trick all of us know since our mothers used to match our dresses with tights in Kindergarten, tights and dress combo can be taken from basic to trendy and stylish with the right styling. The hem of your dress can only be midi or mini; a length that’s in between looks bulky and awkward. The easiest way of looking great in black tights is going with classic opaque black tights.
If you’re feeling quirky and you want to try something unique, opt for winter colors but avoid neons and brights! Make sure your dress and jacket have similar lengths and colors to avoid looking too busy.
Over black pants
Haven’t you heard that black pants are now the new tights? We love it as they are more comfortable and warmer. Wearing long tunics in warm materials like knit can make your outfit more winter-appropriate. Make sure your black pants have the proper fit and in sturdy materials like leather and denim. Add sneakers so you’re more comfortable.
Pair midi sweater dresses with long coats
The best part with midi sweater dresses is they literally wrap our bodies in wool. They are like going out of the front door in the coziest blanket! A jacket or long coat on top can add an extra layer of warmth. Pair with heeled booties to elevate the whole outfit.
With faux fur accents
There is something about faux fur that makes any look feel cozy and wintry. Wear your favorite mini dresses with fur jackets or vests to stay warm and stylish at the same time. Pair with tights and boots to make sure your bottom half is still warm. With this outfit idea, your morning pickups at Starbucks will feel even more warm, cozy, and chic!
